R.I.P.

Very sad.
The voice of "The Rest of the Story", Paul Harvey, has passed away.

This statement from ABC Radio is posted on Paul's website:

Paul Harvey was one of the most gifted and beloved broadcasters in our nation’s history. As he delivered the news each day with his own unique style and commentary, his voice became a trusted friend in American households. His career in radio spanned more than seven decades, during which time countless millions of listeners were both informed and entertained by his “News & Comment” and “Rest of the Story” features. Even after the passing of his loving wife Angel in May 2008, Paul would not slip quietly into retirement as he continued to take the microphone and reach out to his audience. We will miss our dear friend tremendously and are grateful for the many years we were so fortunate to have known him. Our thoughts and prayers are now with his son Paul Jr. and the rest of the Harvey family.

Jim Robinson
President, ABC Radio Networks

My dad listened to Paul Harvey every day when I was going up.
I can remember at 12:30pm hearing, "Stand by for NEWS!"

The last few weeks I've been listening to Paul every morning on my way to work. Every day at 4:59 am I hear "and now you know, the rest of the story".
I'm sure I'm not the only one who will miss his distinctive voice and way of speaking.
WTF

What in holy hell is she thinking?

According to People, Rihanna and Chris Brown are "focusing on a reconciliation and working through their issues".

Uhmm. "their" issues? Seems to me the issue is that Chris beats up women.

Who else thinks that Rihanna will be the next Nicole Brown Simpson and now this picture looks eerily like an autopsy photo?

Oh No!

According to TMZ:

UPDATE: We've just learned Ed is in the ICU and his condition is "extremely serious."

As one person close to him put it -- "It's not great, to say the least."We're told Ed McMahon has been hospitalized for nearly a month with pneumonia, bone cancer and other medical problems.McMahon's condition is "serious" which is pretty obvious given his age -- 85 -- and the fact he has pneumonia.

We contacted Ed's rep, Howard Bragman, who confirmed the hospitalization and added, "He's not at Cedars-Sinai" -- a dig on the hospital Ed is suing for alleged malpractice and elder abuse.

Did you hear the wedding bells?

Boring and boring got married last night. Start the countdown until the divorce.

US magazine broke the news that Gisele Bundchen and Tom Brady were wed at the St. Monica Catholic Church in California Thursday evening.

The dress was a strapless gown with a trumpet skirt, long train and a floor-length veil by Dolce & Gabbana.

Tom's illegimate son was present and possibly Gisele's 3 dogs.

Classy.

Goop defends Goop

"I think the people who are criticizing it or criticizing the idea of it, don't really get it, because if they did, they would like it," Paltrow, told PEOPLE Wednesday night at a New York City benefit.
Paltrow said she believes some of the barbs simply stem from the fact that she's doing something new and different.
No, Gwennie the criticism isn't because it's "new and different". It's not.
Martha Stewart has been doing it for years.
You've just added your condescending better-than-thou attitude to the same old crap.
BTW, would you take advice from someone who decided this was a dress to wear to the Oscars?!
Jolie-Pitt's go to a play

Pax, Maddox, Zahara & Shiloh take mom & dad along to see the Little Mermaid last night in New York.
The Jolie-Pitts are currently living in New York while Angelina films Salt.

Desperate

Jennifer Love Hewitt obviously didn't have anything to do on Oscar weekend so she dressed up, called a pap and went to Tiffany's for some pictures. Poor thing! This is how she celebrated her 30th birthday. Doesn't she have any friends?

Fugs In Red

Amanda Bynes--Not good when a skinny girl looks fat. And the belt being longer than the actual dress? Tacky.

Patricia Arquette--Does she ever look good?

Tori Spelling & Jennie Garth--I like Tori's dress but for the love of God please fix or cover up that crater in your chest.
Jennie just looks old and waxy.

It's Olive!!

I love pictures of Olive Baron Cohen. Not only is she so cute, she shares the name of my first Cabbage Patch Kid.

Here's Olive with mom Isla out today. Mom's movie, "Confessions of a Shopaholic" starts Friday.
Questions: Why no pictures of Olive with Daddy?? When are Mommy & Daddy getting married??
2nd Verse, Same as the 1st

Looks like Kate Hudson is back at the top of her dating list and is giving Owen Wilson another spin.

"They're back together," a source tells PEOPLE. Sunday Kate and son Ryder spent the day with Owen in Malibu.

This time last year they got back together for three months after breaking up in June 2007 after dating nine months. (and don't forget somewhere in there Owen attempted suicide)

I'm going to go out on a limb and say I doubt this go-round will last even two months.

Maybe it's your tongue ring

Drew Barrymore and Justin Long not friendly after their breakup?

"Drew came up to Justin and started whining that he kept ignoring her," says a source, "He was apologizing and saying that he didn't see her but seemed really annoyed and . . . not that into her."[PageSix]

Daddy Issues
Evidently Liv Tyler and her father Steven aren't as chummy as they have been. "In the past few years we haven't been very close. He has been going through a lot of things on his own and he has not been the… he hasn't been around that much for us," Tyler says, "So that's been hard.
Well what do you expect from a drug addict rock 'n roller father that you didn't know was your father until you were 9 years old? It's sad but why announce it?

Groundhog Day

Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow today, so it will be 6 more weeks of winter. The last time Phil didn’t see his shadow was 1999.

According to German folklore, if a hibernating animal cast a shadow on the holiday of Candlemas (February 2) winter would last another six weeks. No shadow means Spring would come early.

Since 1887, Phil has seen his shadow 97 times, hasn't seen it 15 times, and there are no records for nine years, according to the Punxsutawney Groundhog Club.

In Michigan we have Woody the Woodchuck at the Howell Conference and Nature Center definitely is predicting six more weeks of winter.

Woody would not even come out of her stump. (that can't be good)

This was just he first time in at least six years Woody did not at least sniff the cold air outside of her ceremonial stump at the nature center north of Pinckney.

Woody's system is a little different from Phil's.

Once she comes out, she has 30 seconds to return to her stump. If she does, the prediction is for another six weeks of winter. If after 30 seconds, she's still outside, that indicates an early spring.

So far, Woody has made a correct prediction seven out of 10 times, according to Wildlife Director Dana DeBenham.

Center Director Dick Grant event went so far as to retrieve an opossum from the facility's wildlife rehabilitation center to see whether a different critter would cooperate with the ceremonial forecast. The Wood-supportive crowd booed the opossum off the stage.

Candlemas—February 2 is one of the great cross-quarter days which make up the wheel of the year. If falls midway between the winter solstice and the spring Equinox and in many traditions is considered the beginning of Spring.

Since Candlemas is a time of new beginnings, this is a good day to ritually celebrate all things new. Plan a ceremony to name a new baby, officially welcome a new person into a family or plight your troth to your beloved. (wtf?) Make a commitment to a goal. (Yeah that’s going to happen); this would be an especially powerful thing to do in a group. (or coven)
