In one of the most dramatic conversions since the Roman Emperor Constantine stopped throwing Christians to the lions and became one himself, Paris Hilton of all people announced that she will cease wearing fur.

The pivotal moment came when Heather Mills-McCartney showed the hotel heiress a PETA tape of animals being ill-treated and killed in a Chinese fur farm.

Last year Hilton was named public enemy number one in the war against fur by PETA as she continually laughed off their appeals for her not to wear fur.

Hilton spokesperson Elliot Mintz released a statement saying : "Paris does not wear fur, nor will she wear fur described as artificial fur knowing it came off the backs of animals”

Teacher jailed for sex with pupil

A married teacher who had sex with one of her teenage pupils has been jailed for four years and three months.

Elvira Fairhurst, from Liverpool, began an affair with the boy when he was 14 and had sex with him up to 10 times.

She was arrested after a crane driver saw the pair having sex on the top floor of a multi-storey car park while she was on a break from jury service.

At Liverpool Crown Court the 49-year-old admitted 11 counts of sexual activity with a child .
As well as having sexual intercourse with the boy, Fairhurst, of Meredale Road in Allerton, also performed a sex act on him and touched him indecently, the court heard.

The offences happened between January and May 2005.

The court was told that the boy, who has behavioural problems, was paid lots of attention by Fairhurst and was given permission to kiss her.

This progressed to French kissing and then sexual intercourse in the school stock cupboard, male toilets and a park.

The mother-of-two was on a lunch break from jury duty at Liverpool Crown Court when she was spotted by a crane driver on top of the multi-storey car park with the boy.

The crane driver contacted police, who arrived at the scene after Fairhurst had returned to Liverpool Crown Court.

When questioned, the boy initially said Fairhurst was his mother but eventually admitted she was his teacher.

The officers attended court and had to explain to the judge that they needed to arrest one of his jurors on suspicion of having sex with a minor.

John McDermott QC, defending, said: "She will never be able to explain to anyone just why she embarked on a madcap course of sexual activity with a boy in her charge, but she did."

Judge Henry Globe QC, the Recorder of Liverpool, told Fairhurst she had abused her position.
"You allowed an unhealthy, unprofessional, unlawful sexual relationship to develop and pursued that relationship for your own pleasure in an open and brazen way," he said.

"You performed sexual acts in semi-public, in a stockroom, in a boys' toilet, in a park and finally at a time when you were performing public service as a juror in this very building, in an open-air car park in full view of a crane driver."

The judge banned her from working with children indefinitely.

She was given the same sentence for each of the 11 counts with the sentences will run concurrently.

At least this isn't a problem only in America. At least in the UK they give prison time instead of just probation. You have to know though that when it's a 49 year old man with a 14 year old girl let alone a teacher and student he would get a sentence of more than 4 years. Plus only 4 years for 11 counts?!! I wonder what actual time that will work out to be?

I really need to get on Michigan legislators to impose stiffer penalties for this here, especially when Dr. Kevorkian is still doing time and Jenny won't commute his sentence.

UGGG!!!!

I deleted my cache and it wiped out all of my stored usernames and passwords. So it's taken me since last night to break into this one. I thought my username was different from the norm and it kept telling me email sent, but then I wouldn't get an email. So I sent in a help form (not helpful) finally I just played around with it and I guess I hit on it. Now I hope I remember it again if I ever need it. UGGG.

It's raining really hard outside. I was watching The Grudge but the satelite went out and I'm too lazy to get up a fourth time to try to reset it.

Jodie got out of work early because they lost power and I saw on freecycle there was a notice that 2 of the 3 moderators have been w/o power since 10:30 a.m. I wonder what's going on? It just started raining about 9pm.

My mower is still broken and I haven't got my chipper back yet. I saw the neighbor guy out yesterday in the yard and I asked him if he would mow for me, he said he would do it for free but I told him I would pay him. I don't like to have people do things without paying for it. I saw the boys mowing next door when I went to the car to get the paper. I was going to go to the pool (it was hot enough) but my stomach is sunburned pretty bad. Couldn't even sleep on it yesterday. I sprayed some stuff I got from Brian's on it but I don't think it helped. Jodie said OTIS shows him security level II instead of I but I didn't notice that before. I wonder if that is the move he wrote me about? It's been 32 days so he should be moved to his regular place soon. I haven't heard from the lawyer since I talked to him last Wednesday. Hmmm.

Ok, so I was TOTALLY off on knowing my times!!!

I beat my Rose Run time after all. Rose Run was actually 44:01 and Concord was 40:27. I bettered it by 3:44!! Without any training. Just think if I actually practiced what I could do.

There is the July 4th race in Hanover but the run is 5 miles and I would probably die or the 5k walk which hurt my knees last year but I did finish 2nd in my age group and right behind the fat girl who I thought was younger or I would have passed her. (damn fat people always look younger).

Then Planet Fitness (formerly American Physique) in Spring Arbor on July 15. That one's hard because it's up on down and stretched out. I need to get less than 40 and since I've been bettering by 3 minutes I need around 36-37. I'll have to practice some and get new batteries for my watch.

My sunburn on my stomach from yesterday is hideous. I was sitting up so I have a crease in the middle, then a huge white band under my chest. Today I wore a different suit and reclined more to hopefully even it up. I also have a muffin top and that was burned so I put sunscreen on that, my upper chest, shoulders and my stupid knees which keep burning.

Still working on getting my checkbook balanced and my classwork. Also need to figure out what class/classes to take next semester. I really want to wrap up ASAP so that I can look for a new job. August it'll be 11 years and I'm so tired of this 2 hour commute. Next week Jade and I are going to do a dry run on the new route I got from AAA. When I go back to work I'm going to see if there are any openings in a carpool. That is an opening with someone I don't hate.

Concord Classic

Today was the Concord Classic. I was trying to better my Rose Run time of 40 minutes, which I should have been able to do since this race is flat and Rose Run isn't. I remembered to take my stopwatch. Unfortunately, it is either broken or needs new batteries. UGG.

I ran the first mile (AGAIN!!) without stopping. I think there was at least one lady behind me. The walkers started only two minutes after us so Jeff Heath passed me right away. I kept most of the last runners in sight for a long time but then lost them. In the last two miles Peggi and two friends of hers were behind me, while I was walking. I had a weird pain in my lower left side and high on my right side, not side stitches just weird pains. They passed me, then I passed them and stayed ahead for awhile then they booked. They had 3 water stops and at the 3rd one which was also the 2nd I asked if the girl had the times but she didn't, at the last time before that it was 25 minutes so I was trying to hurry to get to 36 or under 40.

I ran in but the clock said 40 didn't see the seconds. Mom had to go to Canada for the wedding shower so we didn't wait around for results. Will have to read the paper tomorrow.

Even if I didn't beat 40, I didn't do a lot worse, and still haven't practiced. And I ran the 1st mile again without stopping and I feel like I walked less and I passed people without feeling funny about it.

Went to Nixon, watched a movie, took a nap, tried to work in the back by the fence but it was VERY hot.

ACTOR Joaquin Phoenix is spearheading a new campaign to ban the chaining of dogs in California.

The star has teamed up with animal rights group People For The Ethical Treatment of Animals and penned letters to every top California politician, asking them to support a new bill, which would make attaching chains to dogs a state offense. In his heartfelt letter, Phoenix points out, not only does chaining lead to lonely suffering for dogs, it also presents a very real danger to people, especially children who wander into the area where dogs are kept chained. He writes: "Life at the end of a chain is miserable. Senate Bill 1578 would give animal control officers a much-needed tool to help protect our canine companions from long-term neglect and our communities from dog attacks, a problem that has engendered increasing public concern in recent years." In a recent report, America's Centers For Disease Control and Prevention has found that chained dogs are nearly three times more likely to attack people than dogs who are not kept chained. A PETA spokeswoman says: "In 2002, chained dogs killed more children between the ages of 1 and 9 than did falls from playground equipment or trees and fireworks accidents combined, and they killed as many kids as did gun accidents."

I love him!!! I love PETA!!! I love them together.
And I like how "celebrities" who are involved with PETA do more than just lend their name. They film ads, pose for posters, make documentaries, etc. This is another reason I like Pamela Anderson and even though Dennis Rodman is not my favorite I think he's sexy in his ad for not wearing fur.

Any hoo, I'm all for not chaining dogs or keeping them outside their entire lives. I still feel bad that poor Lucy was kept outside. I can't image it now but back then it was normal for us. Renee and Donnie's dog was kept outside too. Poor things. But at least (I guess it's a good thing) they were in a pen with a doghouse instead of chained up. Not much better but better. Now I couldn't image it. Another thing I hate is those stupid chain collars pitbulls usually have. Don't know if they hurt the dogs but they look like they do and I hate them.

Ok, I am loving Angelina so much. I've always liked her, especially when she was married to Billy Bob Thornton. (for a skinny old guy he his kinda hot) I even liked when they wore each others' blood. (what can I say, I'm a romantic) But what the hell is she thinking!! My gosh woman you JUST adopted one before you got pregnant, so you robbed her of that time while you were flying around everywhere then going to Africa for the birth. (well, c-section but I guess they still call it a birth-shouldn't it be called an operation?) Then after you have the new kid the poor little 1st adopted kid doesn't get pimped in the People $$$ but the 2nd one does, but other than that you don't see her usually. Now she wants to adopt AGAIN?! and the new one isn't a month old yet? I realize she & Brad can afford it as far as money but what about time? The two girls will never get as much attention as Maddox got or still gets, now she wants to further divide the time left after subtracting Maddox's and split amongst 3 other kids? Then how many more? Why not just buy an orphanage, wouldn't that be faster? And I've noticed all the "celebrities" almost always adopt infants with no problems. I say almost because some hot guy and his wife adopted and I think the kid was 5. Can't remember who though. But that could be the exception or they may have had the kid and it took longer for some reason. I might have to check into it if I still care later.
Oh well, Angelina on Anderson Cooper tonight. She'll make trailer trash Britney look worse (if that's possible)

Woman falls to death at Yellowstone ParkBy AP

YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK, Wyoming -- Deb Chamberlin, a 52-year-old woman from Michigan, fell 500 feet to her death after climbing over a protective retaining wall to take a picture. The woman was visiting the park with her husband and two children from Michigan.

Her husband flagged down a passing motorist, who called 911 after the Saturday morning accident at a lookout along the Yellowstone River, park officials said.

A ranger rappelled down the canyon wall to reach the woman, but she was dead at the scene.

The woman was from Rockford, Michigan where she was vice president of the school board there. This was the second accident at Yellowstone this year.

Where do I start?
Why are people so stupid? and how do stupid people live to be 52 years old? What did she think the protective retaining wall was for? To keep animals from climbing OUT of the canyon? And how important was the picture going to be next year or in 5 years (well, if it had turned out)? People like this are the same idiots who climb over fences, through moats, over another fence and through the bars to get into the cage with tigers for pictures then get mauled to death. (mauled I like that word; mauled it's cool)
And when she's going over the wall, the husband and kids do what? Say ok that's a good idea?
I think it's plausible that this happened because there are stupid people but this sounds fishy and I think she was murdered. I'll keep my eyes open for updates but I'm writing it down now. The husband did it.

This was SUCH a good book. 5 stars for sure. Not that it's unusual for me to start and finish a book in one day but this is the best I've read in a long, long time. It's been awhile since I've read a Marian Keyes and she is a very talented writer. Makes is look like anyone can write. With most writers they babble on in some parts so I end up skimming those pages but not with her.

I've read the other books about the other sisters in the family but I guess I should probably re-read Rachael's Holiday because I don't really remember that one. And Last Chance Saloon. I know I read it but can't remember what it was about.

I guess that's the bad part of reading so much, trying to keep them all straight.

I realized I haven't even mentioned my Vegas trip. Kevin and I went on May 26 through June 1. Seems like every day I think of something I forgot to do. Didn't go to the mall, didn't go to Ceasar's Forum Shops, didn't go to the Venitian shops, didn't gamble much. We did go to a different outlet mall and we went to the buffet at our hotel a bunch. We stayed at Excalibur. On the 28th we had tickets to Madonna's Confessions concert at MGM. That was a great concert. Our seats were good. She looked tiny but they had the jumbotrons.

Kevin went hiking. I went to the pool. Went to M&M store but didn't buy anything. Went to the Coke store and tried 16 different flavors from around the world. Some were pretty gross. The first day we were there all I did was sleep. Seems like a waste but I was so stressed out after Brian getting sentenced and working and the early flight. Saturday at the pool was kinda chilly, actually I was ok until I sent Kevin to get me a drink and he came back with a HUGE plastic football of a daiquiri which was all ice and with the high winds then I was freezing and had to cover up and huddle with one hand with my drink and the other with my magazine. The next day was a lot warmer but then I got wind burned and sunburned so then I didn't lay out the day after that. I had put some sunscreen on but then left the bottle in the room so couldn't put more on.

Now I'm ready to go right back and do all the things I forgot to do. Except that since I haven't been reimbursed it cost me a bit and I still need to put the other $3,000 in my IRA for this year and start a mutual fund as a car payment since mine is starting to hard start and make funny noises. It has like 180,000 miles and is 8 years old.

Plea deal spares killer boyfriend's life

David Ludwig pleaded guilty to the murders of Michael and Cathryn Borden, his girlfriend's parents.

LANCASTER, Pennsylvania (AP) -- A young man accused of killing his 14-year-old girlfriend's parents and running off with her pleaded guilty Wednesday to murder in a deal that spared him from the death penalty.

David G. Ludwig, 19, was sentenced to life in prison without parole for shooting Michael and Cathryn Borden inside their Lititz, Pennsylvania, home in November after they demanded he break off his relationship with their daughter, Kara.

Ludwig and Kara had tried to keep their relationship secret from her parents, who were displeased with their age difference. Investigators said the Bordens confronted Ludwig after discovering he and Kara had been out all night.

After the talk, Ludwig used his father's pistol to shoot the Bordens in the head, and Kara then climbed into his car and they set out to start a new life together, authorities said.

Investigators concluded that Kara joined Ludwig voluntarily but played no role in the shootings. She was not charged with a crime.

Prosecutors had been seeking the death penalty against Ludwig.

Ludwig had little to say in court as he pleaded guilty to charges that also included statutory sexual assault.

"By your useless and selfish acts, you destroyed and permanently altered the lives of countless people," Judge David Ashworth said.

The plea bargain bars Ludwig from speaking publicly about the case or profiting from it. District Attorney Don Totaro said the Borden family also asked that Ludwig not be allowed to make a statement in court, not even to apologize.

"They thought it was a bit late for any sort of apology," he said.

Kara was not in the courtroom. Her lawyer, Robert Beyer, said: "I think she's happy to get this behind her and recapture her teenage years."

The couple were caught a day after the killings, following an automobile chase that ended with Ludwig crashing his parents' car into a tree in Indiana. Neither was hurt.

As for why Kara got into Ludwig's car after he had killed her parents, Beyer said: "Kids make rash decisions under stress that are basically not understandable."

Another WTF? Where were this guy's parents? They didn't notice a gun missing for crying out loud? And things are so deep that the girls parents say you can't see her anymore and his solution is to kill them? Then the little tramp walks over the dead bodies and hops into a car with a deranged killer and takes off?

Another thing about his worthless parents, it didn't bother them that their kid's "girlfriend" was 14!! Did either sets of parents talk to each other to work it out. If I had to bet I would say the boys parents are divorced and he lives with the mom.

I wonder who has custody of the girl now? I'd be scared of having her in my house. She's already had one murdering boyfriend. I what the next guy's rap sheet will be like. I wouldn't date her. Her best bet is to change her name and make up a fake past.

Golfing

I just don't seem to be getting any better. Ella Sharp is having tournaments today so we golfed at Pine Hollow. $16 !!! The mosquitoes were horrible and so was my game. 68/23 I started out ok, 2 putts but then the wheels fell of and it was 3 putts and terrible shots. I need to practice instead of spending time on eBay buying golf outfits. Yeah I look good but golf like crap. Uggg!

Went to the dentist today. Still trying to talk me into flossing. I can see how it would be beneficial but I find it to be so gross. I hate putting my fingers in my mouth to get to the back ones. She said the back left uppers have decay so pay attention to those. Yeah right. I SHOULD work0ut everyday too but do you see me doing that? I SHOULD run everyday too instead of just entering races but do you see me doing that? Hell I don't even clean my own house for crying out loud. Uggg!

So I finally looked over the results of the Rose Run from the newspaper. I wasn't last!! There were two people behind me about 20 minutes, true they were 80 & 84 but still counts. If I would have known there were people behind me I would have stayed ahead of the boy and his mom and finished 5th from the end. The boy was in the 13-14 year old group and the mom was in my group. They beat me by only 16 seconds. Damn. Ok next race the goal is to run the first mile without stopping, and if there are any runners around me to ignore them and just pass them if I can and keep going. I need to not forget my stopwatch since there have only been one timekeeper at both races and if I use my watch I can keep better track.

My official time from the paper is 44:01 and Advance Packaging was 47:02 so without practice and with this race not being flat I still improved 3 minutes. Concord is flat so maybe I can do 41 that would be awesome. I'll have to get last years stats. I also need to get last years papers & numbers scrapbooked so I don't keep getting further behind.

Online Dating?

So for the very first time, a guy that eye contacted me, that I replied to, replied! WTF! They usually don't. So I emailed him. He's a golfer also. Lives in Jackson. His name is Jeff. His pictures are scary though. He seems to bug his eyes out. I think he's trying not to blink. At least I hope that's the problem.

I just emailed him tonight so it'll prob be a few days before I get an answer. I prob should have waited a few days myself to reply but since I check email everyday (3-4x's) I didn't even think about it until now. Damn. Oh well. I'm too old for games. Plus I don't know how to play. Hee hee.

I've narrowed down my obsession with him to watching Inventing the Abbotts but I saw The Village prior to that and liked him and I think that is why I looked up what else he was in and got the Abbotts. Then I read the following quote on imnd:

Rose Run...

Today went pretty well, especially considering I haven't ran since the Advance Packaging 5K. The first mile I ran without stopping!!! That's a first. And one of my goals for this year. Almost achieved on of my other goals which is not to be dead last. There was a boy, Michael who's mom or sister was running with him, and they passed me early but then stayed just in front of me. Just after the 2 mile mark I passed them and that was downhill so I stayed ahead of them but on Emmons road they passed me. I think I get intimidated by people and weird about passing so I kinda let them beat me or I would have been 3 from the end. Then I would have to learn to do a full back bend and all 3 of my goals this year would be accomplished.

At the 2 mile mark, my time was 28 minutes. I ended up with 44 minutes 1 second. Unofficial. I'll see what's in the paper tomorrow. Advanced Packaging was 47 minutes 33 seconds so without practicing I improved and this course was hilly. The next race is Concord. I put in for a vacation day so hopefully I get it off.

Teen sneaks to Mideast to meet MySpace pal

DETROIT, Michigan (AP) -- A 16-year-old girl who flew to the Middle East to see a man she met on MySpace.com was detained in Jordan and was headed home Friday, an FBI spokesman said.
U.S. officials persuaded Katherine Lester to take the return flight from Amman, FBI Special Agent Robert Beeckman said from the agency's Detroit office.
Katherine had disappeared from her home in Gilford, in eastern Michigan, on Monday and apparently planned to visit a man whose MySpace account describes him as a 25-year-old from Jericho, said Tuscola County Undersheriff James Jashinske.
The sheriff's department contacted the FBI, which traced the teen to a flight from New York to Amman, Jashinske said. On Thursday night, her family received word from U.S. officials that she had been stopped as she arrived in Amman en route to Tel Aviv, Israel.
Katherine's mother, Shawn Lester, said her daughter had persuaded her in April to help her get a passport so she could go on a two-week vacation to Canada with a friend's family.
On Sunday, they drove to a bus station for that trip, but the family didn't show up. Shawn Lester said she called them, learned there was no trip and brought her daughter home. The next day, Katherine was gone.
Jashinske said it remained unclear whether any law had been violated. An online conversation with a 16-year-old is not illegal in Michigan, but solicitation for sex would be. He said deputies confiscated the family's home computer and were taking it to the FBI's Bay City office Friday for analysis.
FBI spokesman Brian Endrizal declined to provide any details and would not comment on the man's identity or background.

WTF? Are these girls just horny little sluts or what? The parents idiots? Who gets a passport because the brat asks for one? And doesn't call the other parents beforehand to work out details of the trip? Like where are you going, How long, How much money will she need for spending, How much do you need for her part of the trip...etc. Just drive her to the bus stop and drop her off? The mother should be charged with neglect and stupidity. In most of these cases the sluts lie to guys and say they are older than they are. These guys need to wise up and fast if they are going to troll the internet for ass or they are going to end up in prison doing time for being stupid.
