2006 Ryder Cup Team Europe Wins!!!!!!!!
Yippee!!!! My team won. I'm sooo happy. I wish I didn't have to work this weekend because of the time difference between here and Ireland all the golfing was in the a.m. and the coverage sucked.
At work today I pulled up the website and was able to listen to the coverage. It's not the same but I was able to be listening when we won! It was around 11:30a.m. and it was very cool.
Sergio did very well on Friday and Saturday but lost his singles match. Colin won his match today and I didn't read anything else. The RyderCup website had good pictures but I couldn't paste them here.

Madonna defends being "crucified" on stage

By Arthur Spiegelman

Pop singer Madonna on Thursday defended staging a mock crucifixion during her record-breaking "Confessions" world tour, saying it was not "anti-Christian, sacrilegious or blasphemous" -- but a plea for people to help one another.

Several religious groups, including the Roman Catholic Church and the Russian Orthodox Church, have complained that the scene was insulting and NBC television is trying to decide whether to include it in a special to air in November.

Madonna, in a statement made as the "Confessions Tour" ended in Japan on Thursday, said: "There seems to be many misinterpretations about my appearance on the cross and I wanted to explain it myself once and for all.

"It is no different than a person wearing a cross or 'taking up the cross' as it says in the Bible. My performance is neither anti-Christian, sacrilegious or blasphemous. Rather, it is my plea to the audience to encourage mankind to help one another and to see the world as a unified whole."She added, "I believe in my heart that if Jesus were alive today he would be doing the same thing."

The 48-year-old entertainer has made the crucifixion scene, in which she performs while suspended on a giant cross wearing a crown of thorns, the centerpiece of her show. Roman Catholic and Russian Orthodox church leaders say it is blasphemous.

In her statement, Madonna said the specific intent of the scene was "to bring attention to the millions of children in Africa who are dying every day (or) are living without care, without medicine and without hope. I am asking people to open their hearts and minds to get involved in whatever way they can."

A spokeswoman for NBC television said earlier this week that the General Electric Co.-owned unit had not yet decided whether to include the scene in its November special.

But TV Guide Magazine on Thursday quoted NBC entertainment chief Kevin Reilly as saying that it probably would be in the show because Madonna felt strongly about it.

The "Confessions Tour" is the highest-grossing tour ever by a female artist, bringing in $193.7 million from 60 shows that drew nearly 1.2 million fans, venue management company Live Nation said this week.

That gross narrowly puts Madonna over Cher's benchmark of $192.5 million for the 273 shows between June 2002 and April 2005 on what was billed as her "Farewell Tour."

I really wasn't all that impressed (and certainly not outraged) over the crucifixion part. It was ok but not all that. I'm glad that Madonna has said she'll back out of the deal if NBC does want to cut this part. They probably will want to. Everyone is so afraid of making another group upset. What year is this again?

Muskrat could cost Munith man $3,000

Saturday, September 09, 2006

By Steven Hepkershepker@citpat.com -- 768-4923

A road-killed muskrat could eventually cost a Munith man about $3,000, once he has paid off his legal fees, court costs and a $700 fine for cruelty to animals.

Waterloo Township police and Jackson County prosecutors charged James Carroll with felony animal killing for intentionally running over the varmint in July.

Chief Tom Cottrell said he saw Carroll swerve to hit the animal near the Waterloo mill pond. He arrested the 24-year-old driver and booked him at the Jackson County Jail -- apparently a first for such a crime in Jackson County.

"I didn't swerve to hit it," Carroll said Friday. "I saw the cop before I hit the muskrat. It could have looked like I intentionally hit it, but I didn't."

Carroll said he has four dogs and 10 chickens and loves animals.

The initial story two weeks ago in the Citizen Patriot has caused him significant embarrassment from teasing in the community and at his work, he said.

Carroll said he had planned to fight the felony at trial, but relented upon expert opinion that it was his word against a chief of police.

"It scares me the power police have to ruin you," Carroll said. "I am not a cruel person. I love animals."

Cottrell said he is no animal rights activist, but was inflamed when he said he saw a motorist swerve to hit a muskrat.

Carroll pleaded guilty to the misdemeanor charge before District Judge Charles Falahee Jr. Prosecutors dropped the felony.

Thank you to Chief Cottrell and the prosecutor’s office for pursuing charges against James Carroll for killing the muskrat.

Shame on the Jackson Citizen Patriot for their editorial mocking this decision. It is both unfair and irresponsible to suggest that law enforcement overlook cruelty to animals.

Abuse of animals is a symptom of a deep mental health issue and commonly a precursor to more violent and aggressive behavior.
Many serial killers tortured and abused animals prior to crimes against human beings.

Many of us easily recognize the names Jeffrey Damer, Charles Albright, Albert DeSalvo, Dennis Radar, Kip Kinkel, Luke Woodham, Eric Harris, Dylan Klebold and David Berkowitz. Of course the list could go on and on. Each of them had a history of killing animals.

JCP ask what’s the point of prosecuting this as a felony.
The answer is quite simple. To hopefully stop Mr. Carroll’s violence from progressing to human victims. This was probably not the first instance of abuse, only the first witnessed by law enforcement.

I do feel that part of the plea agreement should have included not living with any animals and mandatory therapy.

All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing

Lawmaker wants law against necrophilia

RICHLAND CENTER, Wis. (AP) -- A lawmaker says he will propose a law to outlaw necrophilia in Wisconsin after the attempted robbery of a grave in Cassville.

Sen. Dale Schultz, R-Richland Center, said he was stunned to learn there isn't such a law in effect in the state, which he said leaves law enforcement with few tools to use in such cases.

Twin brothers Alexander and Nicholas Grunke, 20, of Ridgeway, and Dustin Radke, 20, of Dodgeville, have been charged in Grant County Circuit Court with attempted third-degree sexual assault and attempted misdemeanor theft in the incident last Saturday at St. Charles Cemetery in Cassville.

Someone had called police after seeing suspicious activity. Authorities said they found a hole had been dug down to the vault of 20-year-old Laura Tennessen, who was killed in a motorcycle accident Aug. 27, but the vault had not been opened.

Sheriff Keith Govier said the three never had any contact with Tennessen but had seen a newspaper obituary on her death, which included a photo.

Court documents quoted Radke as saying Nicholas Grunke had wanted to find her grave and asked him to help because he wanted to dig the body up for sex.

Attempted third-degree sexual assault carries up to five years in prison and a fine of $12,500, and the theft charge carries up to four months in jail and a $5,000 fine.

Laws against necrophilia in other states carry penalties of up to eight years.

Umm. Do I even need to comment on this?

I wonder how popular they will be in prison. What do their parents think?

Aspen Filmfest

Fiberglass Labrador Retriever Painted and Signed by Joaquin Phoenix

Next Bid: $3,550.00

He has always been considered a bohemian actor who isn’t afraid to go against the grain. Joaquin Phoenix’s roles in Gladiator, Signs, The Village, Ladder 49, and most recently the Academy Award-winning Walk the Line have catapulted Joaquin into A-list status. We feel that Joaquin’s canine reflects the complex characters portrayed in his films. Wonder if Joaquin painted this dog while still in character as Johnny Cash?

So I really wanted to bid on this dog. I forgot the auction started a few days ago, but my gosh it's already this highest at $3550.00??? My man rocks. Nick Lachey painted his like a baseball player but it doesn't have any bids. hee hee. Neither does Julieanne Moore, stupid idiot Rachal Ray (with an opening bid of $1000??? wtf? Yucky Mimi and Debra Messing's next bid will be $550 and Snoop Dogg will be $650. My husband is in the lead!!!!

I wonder how much the others went for in the live auction?
Damn, $4000.00 is too rich for my blood without anything extra (like a phone call)or even knowing how big this dog is.

Bleh.

So normally I would post a picture to go with my post, but I can't put a picture of that ugly Alien Baby up here.

The pictures hit the internet yesterday and the whole spread today. The Vanity Fair editor was on Larry King going on and on about what a wonderful, normal family they are. How all of Kate's family was there. Funny none of them were in any of the pictures. Blah, blah, blah.

The kid does not look 3 1/2 months old. It has on a horrible wig. And has a wonky face. All the bloggers are arguing back and forth between beautiful and fugly. Don't slam a baby. Yada Yada Yada.

The kid is wonky and fugly.

Ugg. I hate computers! Now my stupid printer hooked to the laptop is messed up. I can't access Suduko from the office. I want to print out a puzzle to mail to Richard. I got a letter from him on Thursday (the 1st one) and another today. In today's he said they are addictive. He wasn't able to buy his tv because of outstanding fines, so I'm sure other than reading he might like something else to do.

Haven't received a letter from Brian but Ma said that he got the books. She's not sure if he got all of them but he read one of them the first day! She thinks it was the James Frey, My Friend Leonard. That was a good book. I really liked it.
